Stamping In The Dark Isn't Easy!!

You know how I know, because I just did it!! The power was off for awhile here due to the freezing rain we got last night, so what else was I supposed to do, right!!! I opened up the blinds on the big window in my stamp room and got busy. I will admit, I didn't try to do anything to involved, for fear the power would come back on and I would realize how much I needed light to get the colors right. I picked a small image, beautiful paper, and lots of embellishments. I just got this set yesterday, and I wanted to play with it some more, so that is how this card was born. I really hadn't planned on stamping today, because I am still very behind on my commenting, but since I couldn't get on the computer, I decided to stamp. You should have seen me trying to rig up my flashlight for some more light. What was funnier was the ah-ha moment when I realized the power might not come back on for awhile, and I may NEED the flashlight for real. So I quickly turned it off, ripped off the duct tape and got to work!! Oh the things you would see in my stamp room if you were a fly on the wall. So anyway, I started with this yummy paper from the Basic Grey Two Scoops collection. I loved the colors on it, and how elegant it looked. I matched it with three of the SU incolors Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky and Blue Bayou. The sugar bowl is from the Look Who's Perky set from Paper Pretties, it is adorable, and very high quality(I mean it stamps good). I colored it in using my blender pens and stamp pads. I then added some silver pen to the spoon. The flower on the pot is from the SU rub ons that they are offering right now for free when you order $50 worth of stuff, so if you think you need these, and you totally do, contact your demo, or ME!!! to find out how(BTW I am willing to do Customer Direct Orders to anywhere in the US.) The sentiment in the top corner is also one of the rub-ons. Lots of ribbon and three white brads later, and it was a card.
I also wanted to post a card I received in the mail yesterday from Wanda. She got my name off of the Paper Pretties RAK forum and sent this to me. Isn't she a sweetie!!! It totally made my day!!
Another note, the runner up for the Blog Candy contest still hasn't contacted me, so if I don't hear from her by tonight at midnight, I will be drawing another name. The winner will receive some of the new SU striped ribbon, some pearl brads, and some cards made by me. Thanks, be safe, and have a great day!!

What A Color Challenge!!

I was up late, as usual, surfing SCS, because I have no life, and I saw that the color challenge was posted for today. I was so excited when I saw it because I knew I could do an Easter card with it!! The colors are Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, and So Saffron. Awesome combo by the way!! I love it when they are easy, because sometimes I have to force it to work, and I am not always pleased with the end result. I started this card by stamping my bunny, grass and flowers from the Whipper Snapper set Spring Has Sprung. I stamped it on watercolor paper with Black Stazon. I used my aquapainter and a blender pen to paint the scene. I used the ap on the sky with Bashful Blue, and the bp on the bottom and the flowers with Wild Wasabi and Purely Pom for the flowers. I highlighted the bunny with my prismacolor cool grey marker and the flowers with my white gel pen. It is layered with the challenge colors. Under the main panel is a piece of the polka dot So Saffron DSP and on top of that is Wild Wasabi flowers from the Prints Pack. I tied the WW striped ribbon and the PP ribbon around and tied them both in a square knot. After stamping the sentiment in the bottom corner it was done. Aren't you proud, there are no brads on this card!!!! Well, I really need to sleep, so thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Happy Mail!!

Don't you love it when you get long awaited goodies in the mail??? I finally received my Look Who's Perky set from Paper Pretties. It is so fabulous!!! I fell in love with it the first time I saw a card on Charmaine(charmwarm)'s blog. She drew a face on it and made it look like Mrs. Potts from Beauty in the Beast, so cute!!! I wasn't going to stamp anymore today, but I had to play with this. The base of this is actually the card that I started for Jen del Muro's sketch, but decided I didn't like it. As soon as I saw this set, I knew I could use it with it. I stamped the tea pot on watercolor paper and colored it with my SU markers and aquapainter. I outlined the whole thing with my prismacolor cool grey marker to make it stand out. What you can't see from the picture is that I rubbed Perfect Pearls all over the top of this, so it is super shimmery!! The paper is from the prints pack and mounted on Whisper White. I layered the teapot with Apricot Appeal and Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. I cut all of this out with my nestabilities. The rest is pretty self explanatory, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!! I need to get back over to SCS and comment some more so thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

PS It is now freezing rain here!! It was 73 degrees yesterday, this weather is completely nuts!!

She Makes a Very Good Point

I just want to start out saying that I appreciate all of your comments about the situation that happened to me this weekend, maybe all hope isn't lost!!! I did receive one comment from my friend Laura(scrapnextras) where she stated that she would want to make a better example for her kids, and it made me think of something else I wanted to say. First I want to start this by saying that no I don't live on a soapbox, but sometimes when you let the inner "beast"(for lack of a better word) out, it is really hard to reign her in. Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Older Siblings, Teachers, whatever, try to always be aware of the message you are sending to the youth of our world. Children see and do everything that we do, and if we are sending out the wrong message, what else can we expect. Now, I do believe that children should mind their elders, but why make it any harder than it has to be. For instance, you can't yell at your children for not sharing or being nice to other children, if you aren't being considerate to those around you. You can't yell at your children for not cleaning their room, if you never clean yours. Does that make sense. Yes yes, I know, they are the children, we are the adults, they should listen to us, but think of how confusing it is to them if you say one thing, and do another. Just something to think about. Now, for my next card. I will slowly dismount my soapbox to tell you about my latest creations. Isn't it cute!!! I wanted to participate in Beate's weekend sketch challenge, I wanted to use this Kangaroo because it is the only Just So Hoppy animal I haven't used, and I wanted to use this super yummy ribbon I got from my cyber pal Jodi(kharmagirl). What do you think?? This card weighs a ton, for starters. I think there are 14 layers on it, might be my record!! I used Elegant Eggplant for the base and layered it with Lavender Lace and Whisper White. The larger strip is So Saffron, White, and then So Saffron DSP. I stamped the kangaroo from Just So Hoppy on watercolor paper and colored her with my SU markers, cut her out and popped her up. I do realize now that I am typing this, that she is "hopping" backwards, but oh well, it could happen, right?? The sentiment is also from the JSH set. I tied the ribbon Jodi got me around the bottom and used some pretty brads that someone I traded a punch with sent me. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask!!
Thanks for looking, and for listening. Have a great day!!

I'm So Sick......

............of the weather!! I mean seriously, last week it was freezing cold and snowy, and now it is warm and rainy. Can the weather get any crazier?? It was 73 yesterday here, unbelievable!! As you all know(if you read my blog daily which I sure hope you do, and if you're not, you should, LOL), I had my nieces all weekend, and I really didn't get to stamp, so today, I am playing catch up. This card is for Jen del Muro's sketch for you to try. She posts one every Saturday and always has awesome samples to show you. I started with a Apricot Appeal base(5 1/4 sq), then layered it with Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. The ribbon is from the retired SU ribbon originals Flirty and also the current ribbon original Beachfront. I had to put the brads in the corners, cause you know I love them!! The images are from Just So Hoppy from Gina K. and the sentiment is from SU All Holidays. The chick was colored with SU markers and so were the butterflies. I went over the chick with a blender pen and the butterflies with a Sakura glitter pen. I sponged the edges to give it a softened look. The spots on the scallops were put on using my gel pen. That is all for now, off to eat lunch and stamp some more. By the way, thanks for all the replies and inquiries about my niece Madison. She is fine, in fact, after we got home, she slept about 30 minutes, never threw up again, and immediately wanted cheetos and peanut butter sandwiches. What can you do!!??

Sunday's Featured Stamper

Today's featured stamper over on SCS is Mary, aka Petal Pusher. She has a super fun gallery. I loved all of her cards, but I loved this one the most. It is so simple(took me five minutes to make this card from first cut!!) and so cute!! I stamped the chick from the Gina K. set Just So Hoppy designed by the wonderfully talented Melanie Muenchinger. I colored it with my Barely Banana and Apricot Appeal markers. The paper is all from the prints pack, which is a Stampin'Up first level hostess set. I started with Apricot Appeal, then Bashful Blue& Whisper White. Three white brads in the bottom corner and a bashful blue striped ribbon tag and done!! I am so happy to get to stamp, I had a long day. I kept my nieces this weekend(since Thursday), if you didn't already know, and I have to say, I am EXHAUSTED!! I do want to tell a story about this weekend though so here goes. I took my two youngest nieces, who I kept from Thursday to Saturday, to McD's to play on Friday. We were there forever because I got sidetracked by another lady that was there who gets to talk to other adults about as much as I do(that's the polite way to say she talked A LOT!!). We had to have been there for over two hours, and they were exhausted. I needed to go to the store, so we loaded up, drove across the street and got out of the truck to go into the store. My niece Madison, who just turned 4, told me she had a headache(apparently code for something completely different but I will know next time). So, while we were in the store, we ran through the medicine aisle and got a bottle of Children's Motrin(my god that stuff is expensive). The three of us walked up to the checkout and there were two registers going, each with at least 4 people in line. So, we got in line, and then I heard her make a funny noise. I looked down, her eyes got big, she covered her mouth, and I asked her what was wrong. She uncovered her mouth long enough to spew her lunch all over the floor!! At first, I stood there dumbfounded, then she started crying. I was trying to console her, all the while thinking, how the heck am I going to clean this up. I looked around for help, and no one would look at me. I asked the girls at the register if they had any paper towels, nothing. I then had to leave my two nieces, my arm full of goodies, a pile of yuck, and run to the paper goods aisle, take a roll of paper towels off the shelf and then run back. I cleaned up the mess, scooped up my niece, payed for my stuff, including the paper towels, and left. So why am I telling you all this you wonder, well here is why. The next time you see someone in my situation, or one very similar, try not to look away. 8 people in line, two check out girls, who knows how many workers, and no one could help me. That is just sad. To think I had to leave a screaming, sick kid by herself to go get paper towels, while every one just watched made me ashamed to even be a part of my community. Where have all the nice, kind, considerate people gone. I can remember working at a convenience store and having to help people out, but I was glad to do it. If I had been a bystander, I would have never let the mother(or Aunt in my case) go get the paper towels or whatever, I would have got them for them. Please ladies(and gentlemen), tell me I'm not alone. I know you all probably don't want to hear all of this, but hopefully someone will read this, and decide not to look the other way. Thanks for looking, and reading , and for all of your support. Have a great day and be kind to one another!!

Saturday's Inspiration

I finally got to participate in today's Inspiration challenge over at SCS. It was a picture of a beautiful room from an Inn in New Salem Illinois. I am from Illinois, and have never heard of New Salem, which is no surprise, but I am now curious as to where it is, so after posting this, I will be looking it up!! The girls are here, so I have to hurry, but I wanted to get away for a minute so I threw this card together. I just hope it isn't too far off from the challenge, I looked at the picture at 7am and just now got to stamp, so I haven't seen it since then. If it isn't, oh well, it's supposed to be what we were inspired to do right???

Just some quick stuff about the card. It is stamped with black stazon on Whisper White. I colored it then used my aquapainter. The eggs were stamped seperately and colored then cut out. I did two of them to make it look like a bunch of eggs. I then put Crystal Effects all over them. The top panel is stamped with the SU background Aida Cloth, which was one of those "must haves" that didn't see ink until today!! Atleast I don't think it has. The sentiment was done by using the word window punch. I punched out the sentiment, then two of each color. I layered them to make them look like they were long. I then put that all on top of the two pieces I punched out using the large and small oval punch. I sponged the edges of everything with Creamy Caramel to soften it all up. Hope you like it and I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. Off to take the girls to dinner!!! Wish me luck!!

RAK's I've Recieved!!

I just wanted to share a couple of RAK's I recieved in the mail yesterday. The first one came from my friend Jodi(kharmagirl on SCS). She sent me this super fabulous card along with a TON of stamped images from the pun fun set and some of an Inky Antics turtle. She also sent me some YUMMY ribbon and a stamped by stamp set because for some reason, I can never seem to get the backs of my cards stamped before I send them. Thanks so much Jodi!!! Aren't I lucky!!

The second one is from my cyber pal Laura(scrapnextras). She has the most fabulous blog(you can find her in my blog roll) and she is super sweet to boot. She sent this to me just because, by far and away the best reason to send a card, but I never think to!!

Thanks to both of you ladies, you really made my day!!

We Have A Winner!!!

You know how they have that saying an elephant never forgets, well I think they should change that to a child never forgets. I kid you not, my niece Madison sat straight up this morning(at 7am, wooohoooo!!) and said, come on Aunt Jessie we gotta pick a number out of the heart basket. I think she thought it was going to be more exciting, because after she picked it out she said"Is that it??". When I told her yes, she left the room to go watch cartoons, I guess my giveaway wasn't exciting enough for her!! Before I announce the winner, let me say that I really appreciate all of you that entered, this was so much fun for me. I enjoyed reading everyone's answers to the questions too. A couple of people asked me for mine, so here they are.
Favorite TV show-Grey's Anatomy(I am dying for it to come back, but Chuck runs a close second!!)
Favorite Movie- Pretty Woman
Favorite Stamp Set- Right now, I am loving my Easter sets(obviously) but if I had to pick just one set it would be Just So Hoppy(and Hippy) by Gina K. I absolutely love both of these fabulous sets!!

Man Am I Tired!!

I really should be in bed, but I am an addict, as I pointed out up above!! I can't go a whole day without getting on the computer and checking everything out. I really need to seek help!!! My nieces are here and sleeping soundly in the living room floor(their favorite place to sleep even though they have two beds to choose from), and I should be sound asleep too, but I had to check out SCS to see what was going on. To my shock and delight the Limited Supplies challenge was posted early tonight so you know I had to stamp. I am going to keep this brief, because I am exhausted and God knows they won't sleep in in the morning!! The challenge was to make a card using only one flower stamp, no cuttlebug, no designer paper, no rub-ons except for sentiment, and you could use embellishments. I went with something pretty straight forward. It is the Brushed Lily stamp from rubbernecker stamped on Whisper White with Black Stazon. I colored it with my SU markers and blended with my aquapainter. I tied a big pink bow around it and called it a card. Oh I did somehow manage to stamp a sentiment on there, straight, without a stamp a ma jig, completely amazing!!! The colors on this card are Mellow Moss and Pretty in Pink. Some people might say that having 5 layers is not limited, but did you see the other card I posted today, it had 13!!! Good night, and I will be back in the morning to announce the winners!!!
