Saturday's Inspiration

I finally got to participate in today's Inspiration challenge over at SCS. It was a picture of a beautiful room from an Inn in New Salem Illinois. I am from Illinois, and have never heard of New Salem, which is no surprise, but I am now curious as to where it is, so after posting this, I will be looking it up!! The girls are here, so I have to hurry, but I wanted to get away for a minute so I threw this card together. I just hope it isn't too far off from the challenge, I looked at the picture at 7am and just now got to stamp, so I haven't seen it since then. If it isn't, oh well, it's supposed to be what we were inspired to do right???

Just some quick stuff about the card. It is stamped with black stazon on Whisper White. I colored it then used my aquapainter. The eggs were stamped seperately and colored then cut out. I did two of them to make it look like a bunch of eggs. I then put Crystal Effects all over them. The top panel is stamped with the SU background Aida Cloth, which was one of those "must haves" that didn't see ink until today!! Atleast I don't think it has. The sentiment was done by using the word window punch. I punched out the sentiment, then two of each color. I layered them to make them look like they were long. I then put that all on top of the two pieces I punched out using the large and small oval punch. I sponged the edges of everything with Creamy Caramel to soften it all up. Hope you like it and I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. Off to take the girls to dinner!!! Wish me luck!!

stamps-Aida Cloth and Spring Has Sprung by Whipper Snapper
ink-Black stazon and Creamy Caramel
paper- Bashful Blue, Creamy Caramel, Whisper White
tools-soft subtles brads, blue and kraft tafetta, carmel and blue gingham, SU markers and aquapainter, crystal effects, lrg and small oval punches, word window punch

RAK's I've Recieved!!

I just wanted to share a couple of RAK's I recieved in the mail yesterday. The first one came from my friend Jodi(kharmagirl on SCS). She sent me this super fabulous card along with a TON of stamped images from the pun fun set and some of an Inky Antics turtle. She also sent me some YUMMY ribbon and a stamped by stamp set because for some reason, I can never seem to get the backs of my cards stamped before I send them. Thanks so much Jodi!!! Aren't I lucky!!

The second one is from my cyber pal Laura(scrapnextras). She has the most fabulous blog(you can find her in my blog roll) and she is super sweet to boot. She sent this to me just because, by far and away the best reason to send a card, but I never think to!!

Thanks to both of you ladies, you really made my day!!

We Have A Winner!!!

You know how they have that saying an elephant never forgets, well I think they should change that to a child never forgets. I kid you not, my niece Madison sat straight up this morning(at 7am, wooohoooo!!) and said, come on Aunt Jessie we gotta pick a number out of the heart basket. I think she thought it was going to be more exciting, because after she picked it out she said"Is that it??". When I told her yes, she left the room to go watch cartoons, I guess my giveaway wasn't exciting enough for her!! Before I announce the winner, let me say that I really appreciate all of you that entered, this was so much fun for me. I enjoyed reading everyone's answers to the questions too. A couple of people asked me for mine, so here they are.
Favorite TV show-Grey's Anatomy(I am dying for it to come back, but Chuck runs a close second!!)
Favorite Movie- Pretty Woman
Favorite Stamp Set- Right now, I am loving my Easter sets(obviously) but if I had to pick just one set it would be Just So Hoppy(and Hippy) by Gina K. I absolutely love both of these fabulous sets!!

Okay, and the winner is!!!

Wow, this is amazing candy. You are sooo generous. Hubby & I don't watch much tv (in fact, we don't even have cable). But we like to watch Star Trek on DVD. We're nerds! My favourite stamp set at the moment is out on a limb from PTI. And I found you through Stampin when I can. Thanks for the chance!!

Man Am I Tired!!

I really should be in bed, but I am an addict, as I pointed out up above!! I can't go a whole day without getting on the computer and checking everything out. I really need to seek help!!! My nieces are here and sleeping soundly in the living room floor(their favorite place to sleep even though they have two beds to choose from), and I should be sound asleep too, but I had to check out SCS to see what was going on. To my shock and delight the Limited Supplies challenge was posted early tonight so you know I had to stamp. I am going to keep this brief, because I am exhausted and God knows they won't sleep in in the morning!! The challenge was to make a card using only one flower stamp, no cuttlebug, no designer paper, no rub-ons except for sentiment, and you could use embellishments. I went with something pretty straight forward. It is the Brushed Lily stamp from rubbernecker stamped on Whisper White with Black Stazon. I colored it with my SU markers and blended with my aquapainter. I tied a big pink bow around it and called it a card. Oh I did somehow manage to stamp a sentiment on there, straight, without a stamp a ma jig, completely amazing!!! The colors on this card are Mellow Moss and Pretty in Pink. Some people might say that having 5 layers is not limited, but did you see the other card I posted today, it had 13!!! Good night, and I will be back in the morning to announce the winners!!!
stamp-brushed Lily and All Holidays
paper- Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White
ink- Black Stazon
tools- SU markers, aquapainter, pink organdy

Her Comes Peter Cottontail...

hoppin' down the bunny trail, hippety hoppety, Easter's on it's way!! Have I gone too far???LOL
Today's ways to use it challenge was to make a card inspired by a song and fortunately for me, some genius thought up this song a long time ago!! I am probably pushing it, but I need to keep going with the Easter cards, I am almost half way done!!yay!!! I do have one observation though. By the time I get done with all of these Easter cards, I may never used a Soft Subtle again!!! I love the colors, but I am getting a little tired of them!! Speaking of tired, I am going to go get my nieces today. They will be here until Saturday. I am only getting the two youngest, Maddy and Katie, and then on Saturday, I will drop them off and pick up their sister Taylor, their cousin(my honorary niece)Sam(antha), and my cousin in law Mallory. They will be her until Sunday. I have decided to split them up, not only because the noise level is insane when they are all her, but because I can't really take all of them anywhere to do anything. I only have room for 4 in my truck and since there are 5 of them, I am splitting them up into age groups. At first, I felt bad about doing it, but then when I really thought about it, the older girls don't really play with the younger ones when they are here anyway, and to be honest, they younger girls don't really seem to mind. So, if I seem absent, it's cause I am wrangling kids!!! Wish me luck!! Don't forget that my BLOG CANDY contest ends tonight at midnight!! I am going to have my niece Madison draw a number out of a basket to determine the winner. I did realize that since Katie will be here too, I should probably have her pick one too, so I don't know what the consolation prize will be yet, but there will be one. On to my card!! I used the Eggstra Special Easter set from My Favorite Things. I stamped the flowers first and colored the whole scene with my SU markers and aquapainter. I stamped the bunny on a seperate paper and colored it in the same way. I cut it out, popped it up and that was it. The rest is pretty self explanatory. Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

stamps-Eggstra Special Easter
ink-Black Stazon, Pretty in Pink, and Bashful Blue
paper-Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink, Lavender Lace, Certainly Celery, Whisper White and Prints Pack
tools-ticket corner punch, button brads, SU markers, aquapainter, white tafetta, circle punches, scallop punch, and key tag punch

You Know It Had To Happen!!!

You know I had to go back to Easter cards right??? Of course you did!!! I have to tell you, I was a little afraid to post this card tonight, and it has nothing to do with this card, which I adore. It has to do with the fact that the card I made last night has made quite the impression. I have been posting cards pretty much everyday since last October. I have had some pretty popular ones, at least I thought so. Well today imagine my surprise when I log in over on SCS and I already have 63 comments by noon. I played around on the Internet for awhile, commenting and such, and by the time I decided to do something else(still stamping related of course), I was up to 83. 83 WOW!!! I was floored. I messed around cleaning up my ribbon containers for 4 hours, yes I said 4, while I watched TV. When I finally got back on to Splitcoast, I had a PM waiting for me from my SCS friend Jodi(kharmagirl) saying it was at 91. HOLY CRAP!!! By the time I had this card made and posted, it is now sitting in the gallery next to a card that has 118 comments, how the heck am I gonna top that!!! So even though I love this card, it is very intimidated sitting next to that card. Can you see it shaking in it's boots!!LOL
For this card I used today's sketch over on SCS. It is actually very similar to the sketch that Jen del Muro used this week, the only difference is the placement of the "circle" or in my case flower. I started with a Certainly Celery base in standard size. I layered Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. The bottom panel is Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, and Certainly Celery DSP. I know I know, but I had to put those brads through there other wise it would have looked so boring!! The brads I used are from the Soft Subtles brads. The main image panel was stamped on Whisper White with Black Stazon. I used the super cute bunny from the Gina K. set Just So Hoppy designed by the very talented Melanie Muenchinger. I used my SU markers to color in the grass(Certainly Celery highlighted with Always Artichoke). The sky was done by using my aquapainter and my Bashful Blue pad. The bunny just got a little Pretty in Pink on its ears and nose and lips. The flower was also colored in with the same marker, but I did highlight it with the Regal Rose marker. I outlined the whole bunny with my Cool Grey prismacolor marker. I made a mini ribbon blossom using Celery grosgrain and pink and blue gingham. I attached my flowers with a pop up glue dot. It is actually three flowers, one pink, one white and then one green. I couldn't figure out where to put the sentiment, so I didn't.

Well, that is all for me for today!! Thanks for looking and don't forget to sign up for my blog candy, you have until Thursday at midnight!!!

It's Not Easter...

Well, I am up late, as always, and I saw that the color challenge was posted, so you know I had to check it out. Today's colors are Basic Black, River Rock and Whisper White. Well, I couldn't think of anything to do for an Easter card, except for something with that fabulous cross by Gina K., but I didn't think I would use it, so I didn't order it. I guess that is what I get for thinking!! I had seen on Caroline's(craftycaro) blog earlier that her grandfather had passed away, so I decided to use this challenge to make a sympathy card for her. I started with a Basic Black base and then layered the River Rock and Whisper White. I wrapped the black organdy ribbon around the white base before I glued it down. The sketch on this card was Jen del Muro's sketch for you to try from this past Saturday, and since I loved it, I decided to use it. The top panel is BB, RR and Ginger Blossom DSP. I put three black brads through it , cause you know I love those!!! The main image is raised on pop dots. It is the flower from the SU set Happy Harmony, which I am ashamed to say had remained uninked until today. I stamped the flower twice in River Rock and once in Versamark. I heat embossed them using black embossing powder. I had done the same thing on a card not to long ago and loved the way it looked. The sentiment is from Circle of Friendship. I stamped it in black and punched it out with a 1in circle punch. I used one of my neglected build a brads on the center of this. Well that is all for now, don't forget to register for my BLOG CANDY!!!!

BLOG CANDY!!!!!

I knew that would get your attention!!!!LOL On February 28th it will be my one month anniversary in the blogging world. I want to thank everyone who visits me and leaves me such super sweet comments. I have put together a rather eclectic blog package for you all!! You have to understand one thing to start, I am not affiliated with any stamp companies(except SU), so everything that I give away, I have bought myself. I don't live anywhere near any stamp stores, so everytime I go, I buy things that are on sale, or that I like, to give away as gifts. You can ask any of my lucky elf package receivers from this past Christmas, I go a little overboard. Well anyway, I have raided my stash of give away goodies and come up with a package that I think you all will love!!! In case you can't see it all it includes:
1 package Silver Rain Dots
1 package foof-a-la epoxy brads
3 bottles of stickles-copper, magenta and candy cane
1 package Rusty Pickle chipboard letters
2 rubber stamps from Rubbernecker(yes I know, one of them was the treasure hunt prize, so it was free, but it is not my style, so I went ahead and got it just for you!!)
1package pearl brads from sei
1 package flower brads from creative IMAGINATIONS
1 package ribbon labels from Making Memories
1 assorted package of the SU In Colors
a ton of fibers and a ton of American Crafts ribbon
Black and green hemp twine

I think I went overboard, but I love to give!!! It makes me happier then you will ever know!! So, wanna know what you have to do to get this. Just leave a comment that includes the following things 1. your favorite movie or tv show, 2. your favorite stamp or stamp set and 3. how you found my blog. Weird requirements I know, but I couldn't decide on one, so I decided to do three!! This contest will run until midnight central time on the Thursday the 28th. My niece Madison will be here, so I will let her pick the winner out of a hat, she will love that!! Thanks again for supporting me in my blogging adventure!! You all rock!!
added on 2/26- BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME IN YOUR COMMENT!!!! I have recieved several comments that are annonymous, I want to be able to get your goodies to you, so atleast a first name and last initial will help!! Thanks!!

Let Me Know!!

I added a email subscription thingy to my blog today, yayyyyyyyy!!! As I have stated before, I am completely computer illiterate, so if it doesn't work let me know!!!I look forward to seeing how many of you out there are reading!!

Isn't He Cute???

I think I hit the wrong button, and it posted just a title first. So if you happened to get here, in between times, forgive me, I am somewhat computer challenged. Someone asked me today if there was any way to subscribe to my blog to get updates, and I actually have no clue!! Help any of you bloggers out there, I told her I would look into it and see if I can add a link or something, but I don't really even know if there is one. I will probably do what I always do....go to my favorite blogs and see what they have done. Luckily, I usually can figure stuff out pretty easy, but now always. I probably know more than I think I do, but who knows, it may be true, I may be computer illeterate!!! SO saddddddddddd!!
This card today is for the Technique Lovers Challenge over on SCS which was to use different patterns on the same card, something I already do, so this was way easy for me. I do remember a time when you couldn't put polka dots with stripes or flowers with, but thank goodness times have changed. I will say, and not to the fault of the hostess or anyone else, but it is my least favorite of all the challenges. But being the proper challenge addict, I try to participate unless it is something that I don't need or can't use. I am a hobby demo, which means, I am a SU demo just to get the discount. I have never been good speaking in front of crowds, so I have only done one party. It was a huge success and they all loved it, but I think I got an ulcer from it!!! I shake the whole time I am trying to demo something, it is embarassing. After the first one, I stopped doing it. So when they have projects for the challenges, I tend not to do them, cause I pretty much know I won't use whatever it is. I do however like knowing that if I ever need them, they are all there together. But anyway, back to the card!!! I started with a Bashful Blue base in standard A2 size. I then layered So Saffron and Whisper White. I then cut a 1 1/2 in by 3 3/4 in panel from the Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink dsp in the prints pack, which is a hostess gift at level 1 for SU(the best option they have ever had if you ask me). The other panel is from my Certainly Celery DSP. Each one is layered with the same cardstock color as the DP. By the way, each layer on this card goes up 1/8th inch instead of 1/4 like I normally do, it just worked better that way on this one. I put a white brad in all four corners before I adhered all this to the Bashful Blue base because I hate having ribbon or brads sticking through to the main card. I also did the ribbon before I glued it down. I went a little overboard with the ribbon on this one, but I LOVE ribbon. It has celery, pink, blue and apricot grosgrain. The main image is layered with all the colors and was colored with my SU markers and then blended with my aquapainter. The frog, flower and watter ripple are all from Melanie Muenchinger's fabulous set, Just So Hoppy . The grass is from Rubber Stampede, isn't it perfect for this kind of scene. The stem on the flower was hand drawn in by me, trust me in this, if I can do it, anyone can. I stamped all of this in black stazon on Whisper White cardstock. I did put a little white gel pen on the frogs eyes, the flower and the spots on the back, to make them pop a little more.
Well, that is all for now, if you have any questions, feel free to PM on splitcoast, leave a comment, or email me!! Thanks and have a good day!!
