I made my card tonight for both our Teasers, and the Crazy 4 Challenges, challenge. This week's challenge was to make a card with a fancy fold, and I chose to do one designed by our leader, and my MFT teammate, Frances. It is the Center Step Card, which I found on SCS, and is SO much fun. It's super easy to do...if you read the directions. I won't lie, I had to do the base, twice. LOL! I cut my base out of Fossil cardstock, and then used Blu Raspberry, Orange Fizz, Sweet Tooth, and MME Be Amazing paper. I used brads from Michael's, and both the Hearts Die-namics, and the Notched Tag Die-namics for my hearts. I am in LOVE with the new Umbrella Die-namics, too. It is SO much fun!! My ribbons are both from The Ribbon Carousel-Orange V Striped Twill and Caribbean Twine. I used the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics for my sentiment.

Well, that is it for me for now!

ABC Friday- A Tribute to My Papaw

My Papaw passed away, yesterday, and since it was my turn to do ABC Friday over at There She Goes, I decided that I would make a shadow box for me to have....but then halfway through, I decided I would make it for my father.  My Papaw was a very special man, and had a huge, loving family that he held dear to his heart, as we do him to ours. I will miss him so much, but feel so blessed to have had him in my life. I love you, Papaw, and I will miss you always.

For my shadow box, I found some on sale at Michael's, 3 for $9.99. I took off the back, and covered it with some old SU paper. I didn't have a very good picture of my Papaw here, so I stold one from one of my cousins on Facebook.

I added some Satin Edged White Grosgrain, from the Ribbon Carousel, and American Crafts Thickers for his names. My brads are from Michael's, and my photo corners are the new Photo Corners Die-namics.

To finish it off, I used the Dadism's set to create my sentiment panel. I stamped several of the sayings to make a sort of list.

I really hope he likes this, if not, I am TOTALLY keeping it for myself!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.

I wasn't in the mood to color tonight, and I am a huge procrastinator, so I went with the gorgeous Inpsired By Birds set. I stamped my bird with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on some MME Lost& Found Portobello Road paper. I then layered it with Basic Gray card stock from SU. My base is Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, and Bordering Blue. I used more of the MME paper, and the Simply Scalloped Medium Die-namics for my scallops. To add some interest, I used some Fancy Flourish Die-namics in Bordering Blue. My sentiments were cut out with the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics, and to embellish, I used Michael's brads, Eggshell Vintage Seam Binding, and Stone Twine from the Ribbon Carousel. My sketch is last week's I Spy Sketches sketch, that I missed.

Here are the Die-namics I used:

February Creative Chat- Ribbon

It's time for the MFT Creative Chat. The My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Chat is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative spaces and share valuable organizational methods, tools, and shopping strategies with you. You'll be able to peek into our creative spaces, ask questions, and share your own ideas in the MFT forum. This month, we were asked the following questions:

Show us how you store your ribbon?

Well, that question is a time consuming one to answer. First of all, it has evolved over time...for many reasons. The biggest reason is the way I purchase ribbon, second to HOW I purchase it.

I, like a lot of you, started out as a Stampin' Up demonstrator. I purchased all my ribbons as spools. I have always kept those in rubermaid containers....as you can see, it doesn't really work that well.

So, then I bought these nifty embellishment boxes from Oriental Trading Company. I used all my favorite Stampin' Up ribbons, and filled up all these little boxes with ribbon I hand rolled...boy, that was time consuming. The only plus side to this, is I used to go on a TON of crops, so it was the most convenient way to take my ribbon with me when I went. I have two more like it, maybe not as full...but still.

Then I left Stampin' Up, and started buying ribbon kits from My Favorite Things, and other places. Those came by the yard, so I went out to Michael's, and bought some doll pins, and wrapped them on those...here is one drawer full...I may have two, I can't lie. I still leave them on these, but I have a new method now.

I am still LOVING buying ribbon by the yard, and I started to get QUITE the collection of it. This ribbon, from The Ribbon Carousel, comes by the yard, and neatly wrapped with paper. The BEAUTIFUL thing is that she sells these darling little spools, that you can either purchase OR have your ribbon wrapped on for you.

Which leads me to my NEW favorite way to store my ribbon...the Ribbon Carousel! These are the old versions, but the new versions are JUST as fabulous! They are customizable so that you can use them as an 8post or 4 post, or whatever your heart desires! I use my 8 post carousel for my twine, seam binding, and whatever else I decide to wrap around a spool...which is ALL of it! They take up VERY little space, and as you saw above, I could use about two more...but hey, all in good time!

Here is a shot of both of mine, both the 8 and 4 post, sitting on my shelf behind me. I put full spools of ribbon on my four post, which are a mixture of PTI, SU, and random stuff bought at Michael's. Word around the street is that MFT has their card stock back WITH matching ribbon...it makes my heart so happy!!!

What are your favorite types of ribbon?

My favorite types of ribbon...well, all of them! I tend to lean toward solid colors, and anything that I can make a bow out of. If the ribbon gets too wide, I can't always make a bow work, so I usually stick to about 1" or smaller. I lean mostly towards white, black, and brown, but with all the YUMMY colors of seam binding out there, I get swept away, and often!

Any tips or tricks on how to use ribbon on stamped creations?

I use ribbon on almost everything I make....EVERYTHING. I absolutely love it, and would list it in my top three favorite embellishments. I use it for bows, to separate papers(like a dividing line to cover up paper seams), and to add color. My FAVORITE way to use ribbon...well, on a spiral clip, of course!!! You can add those ANYWHERE, and they often add that finishing touch that I REALLY needed.

Well, I hope I haven't bored you to tears!! Oh, and I hope you come away from here with some ideas...if not from me, from one of my team mates!! I'm anxious to see what Jody Morrow has done...she is my organizational IDOL!!

For my card tonight, I couldn't resist but use the SUPER CUTE new set from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps- Karber Wizard of Oz. I started by stamping my image on X-Press It Blending card, and then colored it with my Copics. I then layered my image with Enchanted Evening, Orange Zest, and Gray. I used paper from the Echo Park Boy's Life pad. I used the MFT Stacked Open Scalloped Die-namics, First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics for my sentiment, and the Stacking Stars Die-namics. For my ribbon, I used Stone Twinery Twine, and Blue and White Two Toned Grosgrain Ribbon....both purchased at the Ribbon Carousel.
