Prettie Wednesday-3x3

So, I am not a huge fan of the 3x3 cards, only because I make them, and forget to use them!! I think they are cute, and great for gifts, but you have to remember to put them WITH the gift...maybe I should work on that??LOL!! Anyway, two weeks ago Jodi(kharmagirl) posted her first challenge to the Prettie girls to make a 3x3 card. Ever since I saw this turtle I have had this card in my head. I tried it once, but it didn't look right, because the image is so small it doesn't fill up the card unless you use more than one. When I saw Jodi's challenge, I KNEW I wanted to finally make my card. Since you know me, and you know how I {heart} my embellishments, I had to get as many as possible on here. I paired the turtle from the newly released Beach Bum set at Paper Pretties with the sentiment for one of my favorites, One Of Those Days. Isn't it hysterical, IMHO. I think it is so cute....and I bet you know what I wanna do with the snail from that set too...I see a big wall in his future, LOL!!! Poor little guys!! Anyway, I stamped my turtle with Black Stazon, colored him with a blender pen and my Apricot Appeal marker and punched him out with my 1 3/8ths circle punch. I then layered him with a scallop circle punched out of Wild Wasabi. The ribbon is Wild Wasabi striped ribbon(can you tell I was working with the mess that was out on my table still). At the bottom, I added the sentiment and three silver brads. The paper is from the SU Prints Pack. Okay, so yes, I admitted it, I just made this last night...I am so bad!! I promise you(whoever you are that I am SUPPOSED to mail this too), I will mail it ASAP!!
That is it for me now!! Hopefully I can get some time to work on the SCS sketch challenge today, it is interesting!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! Be sure to blurf around and check out the other Prettie girl's(Christie, Charmaine, Danielle, Jackie, Jessie, Jana, Jillian, Julie, Joni, and Donna) creations and check out Joni(our illustrator)'s new blog to see what kind of a challenge she has in store for us this week...next week is my embellishment challenge, should be interesting!!

Bring On The Sun!!

Today's color challenge over on SCS was to use any of the current in colors and any neutrals you wanted. I think it was sort of the final farewell to the in colors. Although the new ones are growing on me, I am going to miss these colors terribly!! For my card I decided to use half of the in colors:Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, and Soft Sky, and white as my neutral. I used my SU ink pads, blender pens, markers and ink pads to color my Beach Bum image from Paper Pretties. Beach Bum was one of the newly released sets from Paper Pretties and features Cooper and some of his animal friends ready to swim!! The paper is from the Prints Pack(my favorite hostess set that I am SO SAD to see go). I used some big white brads and pierced a border around the panel. I then tied some Soft Sky and Blue Bayou ribbon around both sides and added a piece of Wild Wasabi striped ribbon to both of them. This layout is from a previous sketch challenge, minus a circle panel(I think), but is one of my favorite layouts!!That is all for me for now!! Jared is here watching his video that Carolina sent for him, and it is almost over!! Thanks Carolina, he LOVES it( and for all you anti TV for kids people...which I am totally for, this is Baby Einstein, good for the brain)!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

SFYTT Happy Birdday

I really missed not being Jen's guest designer this weekend, so when I got a free minute, I decided to go ahead and play along!! I used the cute little birdie from the SU set Pun Fun. I colored her in with my SU makers and aqua painter. The colors on this card are Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, and So Saffron. My DP is by 3 Bugs in a Rug. I pierced a border around the white panel that had been run through my Cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder then added some silver brads to the corners. The ribbon is SU Rose wide grosgrain. For the sentiment, I punched it and it's layers out with my word window punch.
Have you seen all the SU sneakpeeks...I AM SO EXCITED...although...I think I need to get a third job so I can afford all the stuff I want out of it...I am sorta happy I wasn't there at convention...I would have been in OVERLOAD!!

OH YA!!!! Get a load of my new watermark....snazzy huh!! Beth Silaika did a FABULOUS job with all my watermarks and my super cool new blog banner!! Thanks Beth, I love them!!

That is it for me now, I am off to stamp some more. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!

FS78-Ride The Wave

Today's featured stamper over on SCS is Michelle-aka Shellapoo. I wasn't all that familiar with her gallery, but when I read her story(follow the featured stamper link to read it), I had to participate. I chose this card of hers to CASE. Since I am going to be mailing this the Michelle to give away, I decided that one of the newly released Paper Pretties stamps would be fabulous!! I used the newly released Surf's Up, which was colored with my SU markers and then cut out with my oval Nestabilities. To make it look right, I had to tilt my oval slightly. I used my favorite tropical themed paper from Karen Foster. I layered the main image with Ruby Red and popped it up with a long panel of Whisper White that had been ran through the Cuttlebug with my swirls folder. I added some big silver brads(thanks Jackie) to each end and wrapped some hemp twine around it. The base is Ruby Red, More Mustard and my Karen Foster DP. I pierced a hole in the scallops and I added polka dots to his swim trunks with my white gel pen. I am off to create some more!! Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Oh What A Night!!

So, last night was the Paper Pretties release party, and what a PARTIE it was!!! We had so much fun chatting, stamping, and shopping!! We also announced the winner of the Paper Pretties Cutie Pie contest...so congrats to my pal Stephanie Hargis!! She is TRULY a Cutie Pie, and an awesome stamper to boot!! Be sure to swing by her blog and leave her a little love!!
Also, our Prettie Pages girl, Colleen, posted her very first scrapbook challenge, so be sure to check it out and play along....there is a prize people!!
My first card today is from one of the release party challenges from last night. One of the challenges was issued by Charmaine, and it was to make a black and white card with a pop of one color. Some people took her LITERALLY, while others(ME) ASSUMED that you could color with other colors. I believe I saw the word cheater flying around...but give me a minute to plead my case. LOL!!!If I had used ONLY the challenge colors...she would have looked very Gothic, and I HAVE NO problem with the Gothic look,BUT I don't think any Gothic person would be caught dead in a fuzzy bathrobe and bunny slippers. Right? RIGHT!!!hehehehe
So, I colored my Sophia with my SU markers and an aqua painter. I layered her with Basic Black and Pretty in Pink. The DP is from the SU Prints Pack. I used my SU scallop punch to make the black layer and then added some black gingham, pink taffeta and white grosgrain. I then pierced a border around the scallops and main image. That is it for me, I am headed out for a wedding...thanks for stopping by!

Don't Pass Out!!

I know what you are thinking....she has gone and lost her mind....that isn't a card...it's a SCRAPBOOK PAGE!!!YAYYYY ME!! To be specific, it is the first scrapbook page I have made in 5yrs...woohooo!! Honestly, and you can call it cheating if you want....but I made this page for one of the challenges as LAST months Pajama Partie for Paper Pretties. It was made using the super cute Bunny Slippers stamp, which is FINALLY going on sale to the public tomorrow!! Just think, if you had signed up for the Stamp Of The Month Club(and told them I sent you), you would already have this stamp(if you told them I sent you....subtle right!!). By the time you read this, it will be too late to sign up to get this months SOTMC stamp early, but you will be super early for next months....so get a move on, go sign up...watcha waiting for...and yep, you guessed it, tell them I sent you!!LOL!!
This page measures 6x6 and was made using some paper from DCWV Nana's Nursery. I layered it with Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. The main image was stamped on Whisper White and colored with my SU markers. The flower is Maya Road chipboard and covered with more of the Nana's Nursery paper. The ribbon is pink taffeta from SU. Can you see why this image, and that sentiment were perfect for my picture....can you see that look on my niece Taylor's face!!LOL!! She DEFINITELY doesn't do mornings!!!
So, TONIGHT is the night(August 1)!! Be sure to be at the Paper Pretties forum at 7pm CST for our Stampin In Your Jammies party!!! There will be challenges, and prizes, chatter and LOTS of fun!! Hope to see you there!!

Prettie Peeks Day Two

So, here we are...day two of my Prettie Peeks!! Today's set is called Bugs and Fishes. It features the very charismatic Wade E. Bug!! Isn't he cute with his little snorkel and stripey swimsuit!! I stamped Wade in Black Stazon on Whisper White and colored him with my SU markers and aquapainter. I added some silver brads in the corners and some spiral clips with grosgrain ribbon on them. The paper is from the SU Summer Picnic Pack. I used my square punches to make the diamonds at the bottom and then I pierced a border around the top of the card and the diamonds. The sentiment was punched out with the Word Window punch and attached between the diamonds. Be sure to join us tomorrow night at the Paper Pretties Stampin In Your Jammies party. The fun starts at 7pmCST and trust me..you don't wanna miss a thing!!!

Let the Fun Begin!!!

So, I have been talking about it for over a week now, and it is finally here!! Today is the first day of the Paper Pretties sneak peeks before our Stampin In Your Jammies bash on Friday night at 7CST. Paper Pretties will be releasing three new sets as well as the SUPER cute Bunny Slippers stamp you have seen on my blog from time to time. Today, I have two Prettie Peeks for you, the first is for the SCS sketch challenge. I used the new Paper Pretties set Surf's Up!!! Isn't it AWESOME!! I love that little penguin riding the wave!! I used my aqua painter, SU markers as well as my Marigold Morning and Cool Caribbean ink refills. The paper is from 7 Gypsies and I used it for the three long panels as well as the surf board. I added some hemp twine and ric rack as well as some white brads. The base is Kraft cardstock which I ran through my Cuttlebug with the distressed stripes folder. I stamped the penguin twice and popped it up.

This next card is my Prettie Wednesday card. Two weeks ago, Jana challenged us to use a sketch she had used on one of HER sneak peeks. I tried...I really did, to use a new set on this sketch, so it could be a peek....BUT I kept seeing her card in my head...so I was scared to copy it. In the end, this is what I came up with....yikes!! It has a MEGA ton of layers on it-which is totally me, but hardly any stamping and I am not all that impressed with it. I love the sentiment though!! It is from another one of the new sets, Bugs and Fishes. The sentiment is actually one line "Happy Birthday Bugs and Fishes"- cute huh!! I stamped the words separately and punched them out. The rest is fairly simple...punch punch punch, layer layer layer, embellish embellish embellish!!

ETA: I Forgot it was my week to post the challenge....okay, that is a fib, I thought it was someone elses turn...thanks Jodi for the heads up...LOL!! Some coordinator I am, huh-hehe!! SOOO, my challenge to you Prettie girls, and all of you out there in blog land that wanna play along is to make a card using at least 3 different types of embellishments.

Don't forget- Paper Pretties is having a Cutie Pie contest!! Send your entries to Christie@paperpretties.net for a chance to win all the new stamps from this release!! You have until Thursday July 31st at 7pmCST to get your entries emailed to her, so get those Prettie stamps inky!!

We Made It!!

Well, today was my first day taking care of my nephew....and we both survived!! I had a fabulous day taking care of him, and it wasn't nearly as much stress as I worked myself up to thinking it would be. Because of the colic, he was a tiny bit fussy, but not nearly as much as I expected. Unfortunately for my sister and her husband, he gets worse in the evenings....so I will try not to rub it in!!LOL!! I got up early this morning to do the color challenge, but by the time he got here, I had nothing, so my entry is a lot later than normal, but it is here none the less. I used my Simply Special stamp from Paper Pretties and colored it using both markers and my aqua painter. It was cut out and layered using the challenge colors-Groovy Guava and Sahara Sand, and my Nestabilities. I decided to make the Sahara Sand layer bigger than normal so that I could punch holes in it...I did that the other day on a card and really liked the way it looks! The white layer was run through the Cuttlebug with my Floral Fantasy folder and then layered with Groovy Guava. I added some Guava ribbon and then framed my main image with some silver brads(thanks Donna for the inspiration). The sentiment and hardware are from SU. This card was fairly simple, but I love the softness to it. Be sure to check out all the Prettie Girl blogs(in my sidebar)-sneak peeks start tomorrow for our Stampin In Your Jammies party on Friday night(7CST in the Paper Pretties forum)!!! WOOHOO!!!

Here are some fabulous RAK's I received in the mail from two of the Prettie Girls!! The first card came from Danielle Lounds!! Isn't it FABULOUS!! I am lucky to have several of Danielles cards on my wall of fame and this will be a BEAUTIFUL addition!! Thanks so much Danielle!!

The second card is from Donna Baker. When I thanked her above for the inspiration , this card was what I was referring to. See those three white brads....how fab is that!!! I just love how she did that, so I had to try it on my card too!!! Her coloring on this is AMAZING and the paper is so super yummy!! Thanks Donna, I love it!!

And last, but most definitely not least, here are some super cute pictures of my nephew Jared from today...isn't he getting big!!! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!!

Phewwww!!

Finally, I am done with the last of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges!! This card is for Lindsey and Natasha's challenges. I saw a card that my pal Jodi did earlier this week( and I loved) so I decided to use the same flower that she had. I colored it with my SU markers and aqua painter. It is layered with Pretty in Pink and Basic Black. The white layer was run through the Cuttlebug with my Swiss dots folder. I used my SU scallop punch to create the scallops and added a piece of Pretty in Pink DSP, which I then faux stitched. I used a silver ribbon slide and put pink taffeta and black gingham through it. On the silver spiral clip, is some more pink gingham and black gingham too.

Well, that is it for me now...but don't worry, I still have a TON of stuff to work on and show you!! And don't forget, there are still a few days left to enter the Paper Pretties Cutie Pie Contest...free stamps!!!YAYYY!!
