I Just Love This Sketch!!

First of all, I have to say that I am so excited!! Melanie Muenchinger has picked one of my cards to be in her honorable mention gallery for her Just So Hippy contest. She picked the card that I made for last weeks weekend sketch challenge held on Beate's blog. I am so honored. The winner of the contest was my pal Linsey Rickett!! She made the sweetest lamp, using the set, for her new niece. Congrats to you Linsey!!!! All of the honorable mentions, and Linsey awesome project are featured over on Melanie's blog, you can find a link to it under my Blogs I Stalk heading.

On to my first card!! In my last post I said that I had 5 new cards to share. Here is the first one. My niece Madison, picked this as her favorite out of the 5. I love them all, but my favorite wasn't picked by any of my three nieces(goes to show you how everyone is different), go figure!!! This card is based on the sketch challenge that Beate hosted last week. It is very similar to it. It is also for Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge, which was to do a bake off card. I don't really have any cake stamps, so I used this cupcake from one of the Studio G $1 stamp sets from Michael's. I stamped the cupcake in black stazon and colored the holder in Regal Rose and the stem in Gable Green. The cupcake has white liquid applique for the frosting and red for the cherry. My niece's really got a kick out of this, and I have had to demonstrate a few times how it gets puffy. I didn't want to show them too much for fear they might think they can use the heat gun. I think I need to put that up till they go home.....

Anyway, I did the same thing on the cupcake three times, and instead of circles, mounted them on squares of Regal Rose and Gable Green. I used some of my new dp picked up on my last trip to JoAnns. That is the wonderful thing about my Mom moving, I have to go through Evansville, IN to get there, and you just can't help but make a detour!!! The paper is part of the Baby Girl DCWV mat pack. I love this stuff!! It has glitter and cherries all over it, which I thought was very appropriate. It is matted with the Rose and Green and then I put a piece of Celery wide grosgrain around it and tied a pitiful bow. It is on a 9x4 card by the way(I guess that would help!!). The circle embellishments on the side are the 1/2 and 1/4 inch circle punches from SU. I put a big white brad through them and attached them with deminsionals. The sentiment is from Gina K's stamps for a cause set. It is so cute, and if you don't have it, you should, it's for a great cause(diabetes). I used Beate's sketch to put the whole thing together. It is not exactly like it, but close!!! Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

PS Four more to go!!!

I stayed up til 2am working on them, because I knew I wouldn't get time to stamp with the girls here, but let me tell you, you can definitely tell the difference between the first one I did and the last one. I probably should have quit and went to bed. Off to take pictures, if I can!!LOL

Happy Saturday!!

Hello everyone!! Hope you are having a great weekend so far!! The sun is finally shining here, but it is very deceptive, because it is still rather cold. I have to go to a dinner this evening so I needed a thank you card. I decided that whatever the challenge was on SCS today, I was going to use it to make this card, even though I still need Valentine's cards!! Anyway, the inspiration challenge was a lovely bedding set. I tried to let the beautiful rich colors inspire me, but it didn't work. After an hour of looking at the bedding and trying to think of something, I finally noticed the pillow on the bed, so that is what I focused on. I started with a Handsome Hunter base, then Mellow Moss, and finally Whisper White. The Whisper White was run through my cuttlebug with the script folder. I then took my Mellow Moss pad and rubbed it over the top of the embossing. I then tied a piece of hunter organdy ribbon around and poorly attempted to tie a bow. Why is it that everyone elses always look so good, I always wonder if they have to struggle as much as I do?? I then took a piece of Mellow Moss and stamped the Queen's Anne Lace on it in Hunter and then a couple times in versamark. I embossed them in clear embossing powder. I then matted them with Whisper White and then the Hunter. I used the antique copper hodgepodge hardware from SU and the thank you sentiment from All Holidays. I punched it out with the small oval punch, and then punched the white and the hunter with the large oval punch. I then cut the white down to make it a mat for the Mellow Moss layer. Well that is all for now!! Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

You Can't Use What?????

The Limited Supplies Challenge is being guest hosted by Amber Hilman aka bambi64 this week, and she posted it early, so I decided to get right on it. I have been so busy this week, that I haven't really got to stamp, and I am way behind on my commenting. Before I started helping my mom move, I averaged around 300 a day, now I am at like 6, LOL!! Anyway, the challenge was to make a Valentine's day card using no hearts or flowers of any kind, and no shades of red, including pink!! Now that is a tough one!! I decided to use my fall back color, purple(my fav by the way!!). I remember when I first started stamping, Perfect and Pale Plum were my two favorite colors. I used them on everything. I had to force my self not to use them, and now, I have to force myself TOO use them!! If you have been visiting my blog or gallery regularly(thanks by the way, I really appreciate the support!!), I have been using the Gina K. set Just So Hippy alot!!! Melanie did such a great job designing this, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite sets!! I didn't do anything special on this one, just stamped the hippo twice and colored it, cut the butt out, and popped it up to give it some dimension. I did sponge the edges of the whole card with Perfect Plum to give it some depth. I also used a lot of embellishments, because usually we can't, and I wanted to take advantage of it while I could!!! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous night!!

Kharmagirl Rocks!!

My SCS friend Jodi, aka Kharmagirl sent me this fabulous card for starting my new blog!! What a surprise!!! It is beautiful Jodi, and you are the sweetest for sending it!! I loved it so much that I used it for the inspiration for my Ways to Use It challenge today for SCS!! I loved the colors that she used, so I decided to use them on my card for today. I started with a piece of 5 1/4square cardstock in Purely Pomegranate(by far and away my favorite of the in colors!!). I then took a piece of Whisper White and sponged PP ink on the edges. I cut a 2in. strip of this yummy paper from the Bali Breeze collection and matted it on PP. I then tied a piece of this yummy white swirly ribbon that I got from Jodi in my elf package. I really wanted to try to do another of those Dahlia fold cards, so I used the Bali Breeze paper to make one. I punched my circles out with the 1 3/8" punch. I put an antique copper brad in the middle, and I don't know if you can see it, but the brad has polka dots too!! I glued the flower down on Whisper White, then Bali Breeze, then PP, and sponged the edges. I love how Faith, aka Markie's Mom always puts here sentiment on top of the hardware, so I have started doing that too. I think that about does it. This card is going to another one of my SCS friends, who had to have emergency surgery this week, although I am still waiting to find out what the heck happened!! Thanks again to you Jodi, you really do rock!! Hugs, and have a great day!!

Valentine's Day is Almost Here!!

I don't know about you, but for some reason, I wait until the last minute to get all my cards done for the holidays. Not just Valentine's Day, but all holidays!! I have been trying to help my Mom get moved for the past week or so, and I am exhausted!! This card was very hard for me, because I am so tired, boo hoo!!! We did get a ton done today, and tomorrow will hopefully be very productive too!!! So, on to my card!!! I knew that I wanted to use today's sketch over on SCS and I also wanted to participate in Kraftin Kimmie's fourth challenge, which was to make a Valentine's card for someone. This is about as easy as it could be, so I am just going to post it for you to enjoy!!! If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!! Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful and safe day!! I just want to say that I am praying for the people affected by yesterday's terrible storms in Tennessee. God Bless you all.

Can You Tell I'm Having Fun???!!!

I am having so much fun stamping today!!! I am trying to get as many of the challenges that I love to do, done, before it starts to storm here. From what the weather channel says, it may get a little scary here!! I have my fingers crossed that it totally misses me!! My husband is out of town till Saturday, so I am here alone with Sophie, scary!!
This card was made for Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday Contest!! I love her sketches, they are always so fun!! I also wanted to participate in Kim Reid's Celebration, and her third challenge is to make a card using springy colors!! I think this totally qualifies!! I was going through my Valentines cards and I have decided that I need more, so pretty much everything that I make is going to be a V-day card of some sort!! I think this is pretty self explanatory, so I am just going to post it, but if you need to know anything, just ask and I will be glad to let you know how I did it. By the way, the image was colored with SU markers, and I kept going over it until the lines were gone and the color was as rich as I wanted it to be. I also had to add the little butt tattoo!! I keep seeing people do this, and I think it is adorable!!! The glitter on the white panel is just the heart from the Just So Hippy set with two way glue and prisma glitter. Thanks for looking and have a great and safe day!!

Beate's Weekend Sketch, with a twist!!

I am in heaven today!! I am going to stamp all day, if it kills me!!! I have so many challenges that I want to catch up on, and I am determined to get them all done!! Wishful thinking, I know, but I am going to try. This card is a twofer.(two for the price of one!!) It is for Beates weekend sketch challenge and also for Melanie Muenchinger's Just So Hippy challenge. I love this set she designed!!! I started with a black base that measures 9x4. I then used Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and then some of the yummy Berry Bliss paper from SU. I then punched out a 1/2"and 1/4" circles and put a white brad through them. They are up on pop dots. I then matted a smaller piece of Rose Red with some of the Rose Red DSP. I punched my scallops out of Pretty in Pink, then 13/8 circle in black and 1 1/4" in white. I had already stamped the giraffes and colored them before I punched them out. I don't know why, but I can hardly use the scallop punch without either wanting to punch holes in it, or draw on it with my gel pen!! I punched the sentiment out with my word window punch, but it was too long, so I did it seperately, and I attached it with a black brad. The ribbon I used is from the retired Flirty Ribbon Originals. Well, I guess that is all for this one!! I will be back when the next card is done!!!

My First Valentines RAK!!

I got the prettiest Valentine in the mail yesterday from my SCS friend Anne, aka jdmommy!!! Isn't it the cutest!!!Thanks to you Anne, for the card, and the gentle reminder that I need to get my cards done!!! Don't forget, I am trying to put together an RAK club!!! So far I have 6 people interested, including myself. I will officially start the club on Monday of next week, so you still have time. You do not have to have a blog to participate either, you just have to want to give and recieve!!! Plus, think of the great friendships you can make!!

I'm Back!!!!!

I am so sorry to have been absent for the last few days. I figure the next two weeks won't be any better though!!! I am still trying to help my mom move, and we were supposed to pack today, but a flash flood has blocked her road out from her new home, so she is stuck there. She made the wise decision to go ahead and work on unpacking, rather than try to swim back to Illinois, LOL!!! So, with all that said, I got the day off to stamp!!! I was going to try to go to her house and pack, but she has decided that maybe she doesn't need everything she thought she did(wink wink), so I don't really know what to pack. So instead, I am stamping!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first card I made today is for the color challenge over on SCS. I need more valentines, but this color combo called out birthday to me. I guess you could also use it for someone who just had a baby boy. This card was made using the SU set Celebrate Everything. I loved the Happy Everything set, and this reminded me of it, so I had to have it!! I think this card is pretty self explanatory, so I won't bore you with the details, but if you do have questions, feel free to email me or leave a comment. I love hearing from all of you!!
