It's Not Easter...

Well, I am up late, as always, and I saw that the color challenge was posted, so you know I had to check it out. Today's colors are Basic Black, River Rock and Whisper White. Well, I couldn't think of anything to do for an Easter card, except for something with that fabulous cross by Gina K., but I didn't think I would use it, so I didn't order it. I guess that is what I get for thinking!! I had seen on Caroline's(craftycaro) blog earlier that her grandfather had passed away, so I decided to use this challenge to make a sympathy card for her. I started with a Basic Black base and then layered the River Rock and Whisper White. I wrapped the black organdy ribbon around the white base before I glued it down. The sketch on this card was Jen del Muro's sketch for you to try from this past Saturday, and since I loved it, I decided to use it. The top panel is BB, RR and Ginger Blossom DSP. I put three black brads through it , cause you know I love those!!! The main image is raised on pop dots. It is the flower from the SU set Happy Harmony, which I am ashamed to say had remained uninked until today. I stamped the flower twice in River Rock and once in Versamark. I heat embossed them using black embossing powder. I had done the same thing on a card not to long ago and loved the way it looked. The sentiment is from Circle of Friendship. I stamped it in black and punched it out with a 1in circle punch. I used one of my neglected build a brads on the center of this. Well that is all for now, don't forget to register for my BLOG CANDY!!!!

  9. Jess, this card ROcKs! Wow, it's so strikingly beautiful and I so kind of you to make with Carolina in mind. She is such a sweetheart, just like you (2 of my favorite blogging sistas) and I'm sure she will be touched by this gorgeous and thoughtful creation. I almost used that cross for this challenge today, but I couldn't think of anything good, so there you go! Too bad I'm not right around the block from you or I would have ran it over so you could make something magnificent with it! Back to this card, I love the build-a-brad center on this fab flower and these neat pom-pom flowers (I don't know what to call them)with the gb dp! Perfection! ~HUGS~
