Sunday's Featured Stamper

This weeks featured stamperis non other than my fellow GSGer Maren(mmbc)!!She is super sweet, super talented, and has a fantastic blog and galleryfor you to drool over!! I decided to CASE this card of Maren’s and then realized that it was one that she had CASEd from a previous featured stamper. I really try not to do that, so tomorrow, when I am not so tired, I will try again. But for now, this is my card for the FS challenge. I HAD to use some of the yummy new Cupcake paper by Basic Gray that my SCSBFF Jodisent me!! I used it for the card as well as the Maya Road chipboard blossom that I used. The hardware is from the stylized silver hardware. My main image is from the set She’s All That, and it is stamped in Brocade Blue. Maren’s card was sewn all around the edges, so I decided not to do that as one of my changes. The other changes were the stamp set, embellishments, and the colors. That is it for me now!!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! I also, before I go, want to give a shout out to my good friend Laura(scrapnextras), her birthday was yesterday(5/31)!! Happy Birthday girl!!

Saturday's Inspiration Challenge

Do you ever have a day where it is astoundingly obvious that you should be doing something else? Before I went to work this morning, (by the way, thank you all for the well wishes, my feet are better today, and I love my job) I checked out the Inspiration challengeover on SCS. It was to make a card around a dress you have seen in a movie. The whole time I was at work, and even during lunch with my DH, I tried to think of a dress that I loved from a movie. All I could think of were big frilly dresses. I thought about dresses from Pride and Prejudice, Ever After, Pirates of the Caribbean, you know, frilly dresses.( oh how I would have loved to live then)!! What’s so funny about this, if you know anything about me, I am NOT a frilly person, I just think they are beautiful. So I decided after lunch to Google some of my favorite movies to see if I could find one in particular that inspired me. Some how I ended up with something from Gone With The Wind. I was inspired by the colors and the pattern on the dress. Of course that was when I started, and now, this is where I am. Not even close at all!!LOL!! Everything that I tried to do, ended badly. I finally got this thrown together, and I am pleased with it, but not completely. That is not to say that it is a bad card, because it isn’t, but it isn’t what I intended, so I have a hard time accepting it. Do you know what I mean? I was gonna write an explanation for this card, but I really don’t think it needs one, so here it is, in all it’s glory!! Now, I am off to take a nap, or clean, I can’t decide( but I definitely think the nap is gonna win)! I leave you with a package of joy that I received in the mail today. My SCS BFF Jodi(kharmagirl) sent this to me, and I was so excited to get it!! It has some yummy Basic Gray Cupcake paper, some Cosmo Cricket ribbon, flowers, a notebook, tons of Lizzie Anne stamped images and a gorgeous card. Doesn’t she ROCK!!

Triple Play

So, I started my new job today, and my feet are KILLING me!! I guess taking a year off wasn't such a good idea. Note to self: take first paycheck and buy better shoes.LOL!!! I have been thinking about the Limited Supplies Challenge since I saw it this morning, and had a super awesome plan cooked up. By the time I got off work, I couldn't remember what I had planned on doing.:( On the way home from work(a .2 mile walk), I got a message from my friend Sharon who wanted to let me know that she was a great grandma now and that totally got babies on my brain. Since 3 of my friends are having boys here soon(and today apparently), I decided to use the LSC to make them all baby cards. The challenge was to use the exact same tools, embellishments, hardware, colors, and stamps on three cards, but have different layouts. How stinkin fun is that!!! I started with the Bundle of Joy set and stamped my Hippo in Black Stazon on watercolor paper(just so you know, I finally got smart and bought some non SU watercolor paper- that SU stuff is just way to yellow for my taste), and my sentiment on Whisper White with Black Stazon, and then I colored them in using my SU markers and an aqua painter. The base is Green Galore on all three cards and it is layered with Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, and Dots and Dashes DSP(retired-sorry). I stuck some silver brads and spiral clips on all three, and used the same three ribbons on all three too. I really like the way they turned out!! That is it for me today, I will be back after work tomorrow to tell you if I still like it!!LOL!!

Isn't She Sweet!!

I have to say that there is nothing better than getting some goodies in the mail to brighten your day!! I received my very first order from Sweet n Sassy stamps today, and I am super excited about it. For the past couple of days I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how I ended up at their website in the first place, but I am so happy I did. I ordered some super cute StampAvie(Lily and Milo) sets, pre-ordered some Sarah Kay stamps, and got a bunch of dew drops and Cosmo Cricket paper. I was super excited too when I opened up my package and there was a free stamp set!! I honestly didn't even know that I was getting one free and super excited that I did!! This card was made using some of my new Robins Nest Hydrangea dew drops and one of the free stamped images that they sent with my order( super smart of them, because now I totally need this stamp)!! This card is also for the Great Swaps Girls challenge for this week to make a card using a layout from the Occasions Mini Catalog(the best one we ever had in my opinion). I chose a card from page 18 and added one layer, but kept the same layout. The base is Not Quite Navy and I put some of my rub ons that I got during Sellabration on it. I colored my image with my SU markers and layered it with some Two Scoops paper by Basic Gray. Then I added some dew drops in place of the flowers and put a clip with ribbon on it in the corner. Isn't she cute!! I start my new job at the Post Office tomorrow, so wish me luck!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Going Places

Today's ways to use it challenge was to make a card that has something to do with packing. It could be something using packing materials, or a travel themed card. I decided to use my My favorite Things set, Going Places. I stamped the girl on watercolor paper and colored her in with my SU markers, ink pads, and aqua painter. I found this super old SU paper in my stash and decided it would work perfect with the image. The hardware is from the Aged Copper hardware and the ribbon is from the SU Twill Tape(it was sponged to change it's color). I sponged all the edges with Chocolate Chip ink. I am not too enthused(I like it, I just don't feel good I think) about this card, but it is made, and I am posting it!! I have a monster headache today, so I am going back to the couch as soon as I am done posting this!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Wednesday's Sketch

This is my card for today's sketch challenge over on SCS. Since it was so late in the day, and I had had this idea swimming around in my head all day long, I broke my rule and checked out the gallery to make sure I wasn't going to do the same thing that anyone else had done. Do any of you worry about that too?? I know everyone has their own style, but I always think that if it came that easy to me, it HAD to have come to someone else. Thank goodness there are so many stamps to chose from and everyone has their own unique style, because NO ONE had used the stamp I had my heart set on all day, PHEWW!! I am EXHAUSTED from sitting in boring orientation for the past two days, so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to think of anything else. Anyway, I stamped the flower from Bloomin' Beautiful twice on watercolor paper and colored it with my ink pads and aqua painter. I cut out parts of the second flower and glued them to the other one to add some dimension. I don't know why, but when I use this set, I always want to use this paper. And I don't know about all of you, but I have to force myself to use different stamp sets or else I would use this one all the time!! I added some brads and chocolate ribbon and it was done!! That's all for me for now! Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Prettie Wednesday

Hello again, and welcome to Prettie Wednesday. I really try to come up with clever titles for my posts, but have now decided to save some brain cells and call them what they are, hence the title, Prettie Wednesday(clever huh, not!!). Two weeks ago, Charmaine challenged us to make a bookmark. Since I hadn’t got to play with it yet, I decided to use the first stamp you will get when you join the Stamp of The Month club, Off to School Sophia. Isn’t she just the cutest!! If you haven’t signed up for the Stamp of The Month Club, you really should check it out. It is a great deal, a great way to collect some Pretties, PLUS, you get the stamps a month before they are released to the public!! How cool is that!!!
I stamped Sohpia on Whisper White with Black Stazon and colored her in using my SU markers. I did add some glitter to her shoes and some silver pen to her lunchbox(atleast I think I did, I definitely made the shoes glittery, geez my mind is slipping) I used some paper from the East Coast Prep DSP by SU and got my colors from there. Then I tied a bunch of different ribbons to the top. The sentiment is from the retired All Year Cheer sets, and the main image is just a tiny bit out of the box(I hand cut out just the lunchbox to give it some personality). This is already on the way to Charmaine and I hope she likes it!! This week, Jillian’schallenge for us it to “Make It New Again”, which is to take out our oldest stamp set and dust it off. The hardest part for me will be figuring out which one is the oldest( I don’t want to hurt it’s feelings you know!!). Watch out next week on Wednesday for my card for Jana’s challenge, to make a baby card using PP stamps. Should be fun!! Don’t forget to check out the other Prettie Girls blogs, and if you decide to play along(which we hope you do), leave one of us a link to your project so we can check it out!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Prettie Tuesday

So sorry for the late post today, I had my first day of New Employee Training for the USPS today. I was joking with my friend Jodi telling her that I could officially "go postal" now!!LOL!! Before you ask, no I don't get a discount, but man wouldn't that be nice!! I made this card for today's color challenge, which was to use Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, and Very Vanilla. I stamped my image from the Paper Pretties set Simply Special in Black Stazon on Very Vanilla. I colored it in with my SU markers and went over it with an aqua painter to blend it. Then down the sides of the base I put three sage eyelets on each side and threaded some vanilla taffeta ribbon and put a piece of chocolate satin ribbon around the center. That is all for me now, I think I have over 100 emails to sort through, just from today!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day(or night, whichever your case may be!!).

Fresh Cuts

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challengewas to combine three past challenges, one TLC, one sketch, and one color. The catch was you had to pick from the first ten challenges ever posted. I gotta tell you, and I know some of you don’t believe me, but this REALLY kicked my butt. My final card really came together fast, but the process of getting there STUNK!!! At first I picked a sketch, color, and technique that I had never done, and found the most challenging- REALLY BAD IDEA!!! Note to self: if you already don’t like it just by looking at it, don’t pick it, it just won’t work!! I finally settled on CC06, SC02, and TLC06. The color challenge was to use Rose Red and Chocolate Chip-yummy combo(if I do say so myself). The technique I picked was to do spotlighting, something I am ashamed to say that in my 6+ years of stamping I have never done before. Don’t ask, I don’t know why!! I stamped the main image stamp from the SU sneak peek set, Fresh Cuts, twice with Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White. I punched out just the flower part and colored it with my SU markers and aqua painter. The rest is pretty easy, you know, big ribbon, brads everywhere, some sponging- my normal!! Hopefully no one else had this same idea or there is gonna be a fight!! Just know, I DID not look at the gallery before I started. That is one of my rules, because I would hate to be influenced subconsciously by someone else’s design. That’s it for now, I will be back later with something else, if I recover from this one!! Have a great day!! Thanks for stopping by!!

MFT Monday

Since Monday is the day that Cindy Haffner posts the My Favorite Things sketch challenge, I am deeming it MFT Monday on my blog(that is, if I get to do the sketch, hehe). Today's sketch is fabulous, as they always are, and here is my card for it. I wanted to make a card to match the bag I posted last week(I feel a gift set coming on), so I used the Punny Farm set for my images. I used watercolor paper, Black Stazon, and my SU markers(no aqua painter today). I used my Nestabilities to cut out the circles and sponged the edges of everything with Ballet Blue and Old Olive. The grass stamp is from the It's a Jungle Out There. I added a bunch of Primas and silver brads where I thought they needed it. Cindy Haffner, who now has a blog-yippeee!!, always has the prettiest flowers on her cards, so she was my inspiration. Be sure to check out the gallery for this challenge, there are some fantastic cards in there!! Hope you are all having a wonderful Monday, remember to be thankful to our Veteran's today, it's not all about BBQ's(although, BBQ does sound good!!). Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! I am off to figure out what to do for the Technique Lover's Challenge, it's a good one!!
