January Creative Challenge- Masculine

This month's Creative Challenge from My Favorite Things is something that LOTS of crafters struggle with......Masculine. Duh-duh-duuuuuuuuh. lol

We are being featured on the SCS home page, so be sure to head to our SCS forum for a look at every one's creations and helpful hints!!

So, if you haven't already run away, scared and such, here are some helpful hints that I use when making a masculine card.

1. For me, making guy cards is so restrictive, so I bend the rules ever so slightly with LOTS of metal embellishments. Guys see metal, and they don't see pretty, they see manly, I still see pretty...so I win, lol!!
2. I always go for darker colors, and nothing frilly.
3. I rarely color for a guy card, as well.
4. They are almost ALWAYS reliant on die cuts and sentiments.
5. Other things you can use to dress up a guy card would be: twine, natural fibers and cloths, and hardware.

For my card tonight, I started with the At the Movies set and matching Die-namics. I used the main die to create my sentiment panel using Sweet Tooth and Black Licorice. I followed this week's Sweet Stop Sketch, and angled my background panel using Going Gray and some awesome Meadowlark paper from MME. I used LOTS of large silver brads from Michael's, and some Stone Twine . I also threw a spiral clip in there....because I can!! To add some interest to the front of my card, I used the At the Movie Die-namics to make my film reel and projector. I even punched a piece of paper out with my 1/4"circle punch for interest. My border was made with the Mini Ticket Strip Border Die-namics.

For the inside, I used more of the same supplies, another sentiment from this set, and my Stacking Stars Die-namics. The lighter tone of this paper will allow me to write a message, and it not get lost.

Here are the Die-namics I used for my card:

Well, that is it for me for now, thanks for stopping by!!
